The 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival began in spectacular fashion, as Hollywood’s finest gathered at the iconic Palais des Festivals for an unforgettable opening night filled with elegance and star power.

Stealing much of the spotlight were legendary actresses Joan Collins and Jane Fonda, who proved that timeless glamour never fades. At 92, Collins exuded sophistication in a flowing white gown, complemented by bold black gloves and dazzling diamond accessories. Accompanied by her husband, Percy Gibson, she gracefully navigated the red carpet as photographers eagerly captured every moment.
Close behind, 88-year-old Fonda captivated attention in a shimmering black sequined gown, radiating confidence and poise. Her presence quickly became one of the most talked-about highlights of the evening, with many praising the visibility of veteran actresses at an event often dominated by younger faces.
Among other standout appearances, Demi Moore impressed in a strapless white sequined dress paired with an eye-catching diamond necklace. She is also serving on this year’s festival jury alongside director Chloé Zhao and actor Stellan Skarsgård.
Fashion continued to shine across the red carpet, with Poppy Delevingne opting for a delicate lace and velvet ensemble, while Maura Higgins turned heads in a dramatic black-and-white gown featuring an oversized trailing bow.
Meanwhile, Heidi Klum embraced bold style in a sheer nude dress adorned with pink floral accents, and influencer Caroline Daur made a statement in a striking feathered red-and-black look. Reality TV personality Kimberley Garner also joined the glamorous lineup in a soft pink floral gown.
The evening also introduced the festival’s opening film, The Electric Kiss, directed by Pierre Salvadori and starring Pio Marmaï, Anaïs Demoustier, Gilles Lellouche, and Vimala Pons.
From iconic legends to modern style icons, the opening night of Cannes delivered a powerful reminder: true star presence transcends age, and elegance never goes out of style.
